Never read the Bible? Curious how different parts connect to the greater narrative and how they relate to our lives today? Join Pastor Tom on Tuesdays September - May at 9:00 a.m. at St. John's as we take a deeper dive into the Bible and the past week's sermon, based on the churchwide series "the big picture". All are welcome, including those who have not been part of our Tuesday morning Bible study in the past.

Lent invites us to slow down, let go, and turn towards Jesus. In this Lenten season, we are entering a journey called TURN, walking through the Gospel of John and tracing Jesus’ path toward the cross. Each week calls us to name what we cling to—fear, self-importance, self-reliance, false allegiances—and to turn toward the way of Christ: life, humility, grace, truth, courage, and the Crucified King. Alongside our weekly worship gatherings, we will meet in Lenten small groups using 40 Days of Decrease by Alicia Britt Chole. Rather than adding more spiritual tasks, this practice invites us into holy subtraction—decreasing so that Christ may increase. Through Scripture, reflection, shared meals and conversation, we will practice releasing what weighs us down in order to make room for Jesus. This is not a season of self-improvement or guilt. It is a season of turning our hearts, habits, and hopes toward Christ as we walk with him on the road to the cross.

As we prepare to celebrate our Lord’s resurrection this Easter, churches across Walworth County are joining together for 156 hours of continuous prayer. Beginning Palm Sunday, March 29 at 6:00 PM, and continuing until Easter Sunday, April 5 at 6:00 AM, a prayer room will be open at Chapel on the Hill (N2440 Area Glen Drive, Lake Geneva). Members of St. John’s are invited to participate by signing up for an hour of prayer during the week. Let’s join with other believers across our county in prayer as we prepare our hearts for Easter.

The cross was not the end of the story—and neither is whatever you’re carrying. When HOPE rises, fear loosens its grip, shame loses its voice, and new life begins. Join us on Sunday, April 5 at 8:30 and 10:00 a.m. as we rejoice in the resurrection and the promise that because He lives, we live too. St. John’s KIDS Jr. (ages 0–4) will be available during worship. Come early and stay after for a continental breakfast, a photo booth, and a special Easter gift for kids. This Easter, bring a friend. Come as you are. Because when Jesus rises, hope rises—in us, through us, and for the world.

Thank you to everyone who helps make Sunday mornings so welcoming by serving as ushers, greeters, communion attendants, and through fellowship. You truly help make St. John’s feel like home for both guests and members. To make serving easier and more sustainable, we’re making a small change to our schedule. Unless you’ve shared otherwise, everyone who is signed up to serve will now be scheduled one Sunday per month. If you’d like to serve more often, or if there are other roles you’d enjoy helping with, please let us know—we’d love to have you! Questions? Contact the church office at office@stjohnselkhorn.com, and we’ll help you find the best fit for your gifts. Thank you for serving—we’re so grateful for you!

Children and their parents are invited to join Pastor Tom for our yearly First Communion Class on Wednesday, April 22 at 6:00pm. We will learn the meaning behind this sacrament of the church, why Jesus invites us to participate in it, and how to prepare to receive it each week during worship. Parents are encouraged to sign up their child as soon as they believe they are ready, which is typically around 2nd-4th grade. First Communion Sunday will be held on Sunday, April 26 at the 10:00 a.m. service. To sign up, register online or contact the church office! *At least one parent is required to attend with their child.
