What Makes You Happy | Do you know the answer? Join us Sundays after Easter as we dig into the Old Testament book of Ecclesiastes, an ancient story of a man who tried “everything under the sun”. Groups will launch the week of April 8, learning from pastor Andy Stanley the three things all happy people have in common and how these they can be realities for you as well.
National Day of Prayer Breakfast | Join us and several hundred others from throughout Walworth County on Thursday, May 3 for the National Day of Prayer Breakfast! We will gather to worship and pray as a community at Lake Lawn Resort in Delavan, with a continental breakfast served at 6:15am and programming to begin at 6:45am. Tickets are available for only $11 per person or $100 per table of 10. Pastor Tom will be leading the prayer time at this event, with Pastor Josh Amstutz from Lakeland Community Church sharing a message and music led by Faith Christian School. Click here to purchase tickets online.
Welcome Kristy! | It was a cold and treacherous morning to head out, but over 55 people braved the weather to attend a special congregational meeting this afternoon and unanimously vote to welcome Kristy Witek and her soon to be husband Ronald McChristy to join us at St. John’s! Kristy will be our first ever associate pastor, the answer to a prayer we have been faithfully praying for over 18 months. Her role will include oversight of our growing children’s, youth and family ministries alongside our current staff (Cassie, Steve and Tracey are not going anywhere 😊) and amazing volunteers. She will also lead contemporary worship and serve on our pastoral team. Her start date will be May 15. Kristy comes to us after serving 18 years at Holy Cross Church in Nederland, Texas in a role that is very similar to the position she will serve in here. Further details will come as May 15 approaches, but we couldn’t wait to share the great news. We praise God for this new and exciting season for our family of faith and the community God has called us to reach!

Who We Are

St. John’s is a growing, multi-generational family of faith committed to our mission to love God and love others in a way that brings HOPE to the world.
We gather in our historic church building, originally built in 1898 and renovated in 2016, located in downtown Elkhorn, Wisconsin.
Worship is on Sundays at 8:00 (traditional), 9:15 and 10:45 a.m. (contemporary). Each service is unique, representing a format that is both “rooted and relevant”.
Nursery is available at 9:15 & 10:45 a.m., and St. John’s Kids! meet during the 9:15am service (though kids are always welcome at any of our services).

St. John’s Kids!

St. John’s Kids! – Sunday School – 9:15am Sundays, 4-K through 6th Grade

St. John’s Kids! is offered year-round on Sundays during the 9:15am Worship Service. Each morning begins with opening songs, games and an interactive lesson, followed by age-specific small groups that build relationships and reinforce the lesson. We follow the Orange curriculum, striving to be a partner with parents in the faith formation of each child. No need to pre-register, we’ll take care of everything when you get here!

Groups are regular gatherings of 8-20 people that meet for the simple purpose of friendship, eating and living on the mission God has called us each to be a part of together. That mission includes getting to know eachother and our neighbors, talking about what God is doing in your life and saying through His Word, and praying with one another. Think of groups not like a class or a study, but rather a family.
We also offer classes and volunteer opportunities throughout the year to grow together in our knowledge of God’s Word and enter into community with one another.

It is our goal to preach God’s Word in such a way that it is rooted in Him and relevant to us.

And just like he gave up his life, we too must give up whatever we are holding onto that we think will earn us our salvation, that we think is  Fair , so that our hand might be open to receive so much more.

    Jesus was a Threat
    Why is Jesus a Threat?
*Because Jesus is a threat to power
    *A Threat to Herod
    *A Threat to Us.
And in doing so, Jesus frees us to live as children of God in the kingdom of God. He invites us to a life that if filled with grace and forgiveness. He teaches us to love and serve one another. And he calls us, again and again, into a relationship of worship, prayer and service. This is our King Jesus and for that we can say thanks be to God!

The Kingdom of God is like a seed.  It's small, and grows slowly.  With God's help, it will grow into a mighty plant that will produce more and more.

    Lent 2018-Jesus Prepared
Temptation is a universal human experience, which is why even Jesus himself was tempted. So since we all experience it too, lets learn a few things about Jesus' temptation:
    1. Temptation is not a sin.
    2. Temptation often comes when we have a legitimate need.
    3.Temptation almost sounds like truth.
    4. Our response to temptation is Faith.
God is our refuge. He alone. It is when we trust him, and his best for us, keeping our eyes focused on the destination, that we can overcome temptation.

What is prayer? Why do we pray?
    We pray because
    1) Prayer protects
    2) Prayer comforts
    3) God answers prayer
