Lent 2018 |Lent is a season, 40 days (plus Sundays) between Ash Wednesday and Easter, when Christians take a spiritual pilgrimage with Jesus to the cross, and beyond. This journey is intended to realign your heart to the rhythm of God’s heart. This journey will include Sunday mornings, Wednesday evening small groups at 6:30pm (Soup Dinner at 5:00pm), daily prayer and Bible reading, and an invitation to participate in Good Friday and Easter. Click here for more info.
Stations of the Cross March 30 | Walk with Jesus to the cross on Good Friday, March 30 through the interactive Stations of the Cross experience at St. John’s. Open for all ages anytime 6:00-8:00pm, our entire building will be transformed into a contemplative opportunity to meditate on the sacrifice Jesus willingly made to save us from our sins and bring us into the Kingdom of Heaven as sons and daughters of the King. No sign-up necessary, just come. If you would like to help with this experience, please e-mail office@stjohnselkhorn.com.
Easter Weekend – HOPE Rises! |  Join us for Easter Worship on Saturday at 5:00pm or Sunday at 8:00, 9;15 & 10:45am. We will have special treats on Saturday, a continental breakfast on Sunday, and full Nursery for ages 0-3 and an extra-special children’s message during worship on Saturday and Sunday at 9:15 & 10:45am.
K-Cups for Soldiers Easter Weekend | We are partnering with Rev. Todd Harder, pastor at Faith Baptist in Delavan, who is currently serving as an active duty military chaplain. According to Todd, “One of the ways that we minister to [soldiers] is to provide a cup of coffee and a place to relax and reflect.” When you come to worship Easter weekend, please consider bringing a pack of K-Cup Pods. We will send them directly to Todd where they will be used to bless our soldiers and share the love of Christ. Let this be a tangible act of worship as we reflect on Jesus’ ultimate sacrifice for our eternal freedom from sin and death!

Who We Are

St. John’s is a growing, multi-generational family of faith committed to our mission to love God and love others in a way that brings HOPE to the world.
We gather in our historic church building, originally built in 1898 and renovated in 2016, located in downtown Elkhorn, Wisconsin.
Worship is on Sundays at 8:00 (traditional), 9:15 and 10:45 a.m. (contemporary). Each service is unique, representing a format that is both “rooted and relevant”.
Nursery is available at 9:15 & 10:45 a.m., and St. John’s Kids! meet during the 9:15am service (though kids are always welcome at any of our services).

St. John’s Kids!

St. John’s Kids! – Sunday School – 9:15am Sundays, 4-K through 6th Grade

St. John’s Kids! is offered year-round on Sundays during the 9:15am Worship Service. Each morning begins with opening songs, games and an interactive lesson, followed by age-specific small groups that build relationships and reinforce the lesson. We follow the Orange curriculum, striving to be a partner with parents in the faith formation of each child. No need to pre-register, we’ll take care of everything when you get here!

Groups are regular gatherings of 8-20 people that meet for the simple purpose of friendship, eating and living on the mission God has called us each to be a part of together. That mission includes getting to know eachother and our neighbors, talking about what God is doing in your life and saying through His Word, and praying with one another. Think of groups not like a class or a study, but rather a family.
We also offer classes and volunteer opportunities throughout the year to grow together in our knowledge of God’s Word and enter into community with one another.

It is our goal to preach God’s Word in such a way that it is rooted in Him and relevant to us.

Jesus’ Economy
And just like he gave up his life, we too must give up whatever we are holding onto that we think will earn us our salvation, that we think is  Fair , so that our hand might be open to receive so much more.

    Jesus was a Threat
    Why is Jesus a Threat?
*Because Jesus is a threat to power
    *A Threat to Herod
    *A Threat to Us.
And in doing so, Jesus frees us to live as children of God in the kingdom of God. He invites us to a life that if filled with grace and forgiveness. He teaches us to love and serve one another. And he calls us, again and again, into a relationship of worship, prayer and service. This is our King Jesus and for that we can say thanks be to God!

The Kingdom of God is like a seed.  It's small, and grows slowly.  With God's help, it will grow into a mighty plant that will produce more and more.

    Lent 2018-Jesus Prepared
Temptation is a universal human experience, which is why even Jesus himself was tempted. So since we all experience it too, lets learn a few things about Jesus' temptation:
    1. Temptation is not a sin.
    2. Temptation often comes when we have a legitimate need.
    3.Temptation almost sounds like truth.
    4. Our response to temptation is Faith.
God is our refuge. He alone. It is when we trust him, and his best for us, keeping our eyes focused on the destination, that we can overcome temptation.

What is prayer? Why do we pray?
    We pray because
    1) Prayer protects
    2) Prayer comforts
    3) God answers prayer
